Life Drawing by Daniel O'Connor

ADVANCED LIFE DRAWING

Instructed by Daniel O'Connor

Advanced Life Drawing is a ten-week sequential course providing guided instruction in drawing from the live model.  While the course is an ideal option for those seeking advanced instruction, like all Manifest offerings it is structured to serve a wide range of skill-sets on an individual basis.

Life Drawing is the backbone of understanding how to depict the world. The rhythms and energy of the body could not be more personal, timeless, or evocative as catalysts for art making. Skills developed in the practice of figure drawing are broadly applicable to many visual art practices. Therefore this Manifest offering will benefit the seasoned veteran alongside the advanced high-school student, or college art major, as they all seek expertise in this age-old practice.

In this class we will address the figure as something familiar. Participants will be given freedom to explore processes of working from the live model, and offered individual coaching related to technial and conceptual issues.

Emphasis will be placed on individual progress in a positive environment. This class is about rigorous learning. The instructor will provide structured discussions and critiques, as well as weekly demonstrations. Most work will involve extended two to three-day poses.
