FIGURE DRAWING FOR HIGH SCHOOL ARTISTS (JUNIORS AND SENIORS):

A One-day Workshop focusing on Drawing the Human Figure

Instructed by Charlie Berger

REGISTER HERE

This is a one-day intensive primer providing guided instruction in the essentials of drawing the human figure. Concentrated effort will focus on drawing and design basics to help junior and senior high school art students develop crucial skills and build a more professional portfolio of drawings.

Students will work from a professional art model to explore proportion, anatomy, perspective, foreshortening, analysis of form, and the planar structures of the figure. There will be an emphasis on responding to the figure through expressive line; seeing light and shadow; and describing form with a full range of tonal values.

This class provides personal, professional instruction in college level skill-building techniques. Charlie Berger’s experience from years of teaching drawing at the university level have equipped him with specific insights regarding the portfolio requirements and artistic skills needed for high school students progressing on to degrees in art or design.

Eligibility:  Open to students currently enrolled in high school as juniors or seniors, and who are 16 or older.  Due to the use of nude figure models, students under the age of 18 must submit written and signed parent permission at the time of enrollment*. While open to all juniors and seniors, the workshops are especially designed for students who are considering pursuing the study of art or design at the college level after high school.
