statement
Some, including myself, have an unhealthy attraction to passionate oddballs, particularly those with an obsession; the creators of roadside attractions. These creations are their love-child; a tribute, a local identity, a mascot, a hero, set free into the world with such care that these bizarre tributes, though jarring at first pass, quickly find them selves harmonious within their surroundings, a natural part of the local landscape.
This seemingly random, small, intimate and worn, wooden sign, hung lovingly on a long forgotten and now inoperative section of old, rusted farm fence - reads Lonesome No More.
Itís a reference to something important, something significant. It has to be or it wouldnítí be here. Right? Who cherished this sign, this idea, and what does it mean? Lonesome No More.
The legitimacy of it's placement is near instantly discarded as irrelevant. It belongs here, this road sign attraction is part of the landscape and perhaps always has been, all there is to question now is, "Why?"
This sign was lovingly hung in Martinsville, Indiana, on a derelict old section of fence, which, at one time, served unwaveringly as a humble yet functional barricade, on a now absent emu farm.
