statement

"Creativity requires both discovery and invention, which are both present in moments of thinking situations."  Statement derived from Josef Albers, Interaction with Color

In painting, my research explores found color and color systems as a kind of color semiology.  I often utilize geometry and intuition to pair planar mapping and spatial tension while emphasizing the materiality of the paint by using resin mediums and alternative supports, such as a transparent plastic. Oil paint on plastic sits above, illuminating the type of application and prompting awareness of the intention and the physicality. In this case, color, found and created, came together with tape during a brief moment of sheer intuitive thought and contained energy.
